Colin Allen, Ian McLagan, Greg Sutton, Bob Dylan & Mick Taylor, 1984.

Bob Dylan with Mick Taylor on lead guitar performing “Every Grain of Sand” at Parc de Sceaux, Paris, France on July 1, 1984.

And the solo on this next one is amazing!

“All Along The Watchtower,” Arena di Verona, Verona, Italy, May 29,1984:

This next sequence is beautifully filmed. It starts with an interview, then cuts to Dylan and band with Mick Taylor on stage at Arena di Verona on May 28 or 29, 1984 doing “Like A Rolling Stone” followed by an acoustic version of “Blowin’ in the Wind” with Mick Taylor on acoustic as well.

By the way you might want to check out the “True Love Scars” soundtrack playlist here. It’s the music that goes with the first two chapters of my novel.

Bob Dylan on ‘The Johnny Cash Show,’ 1969.

In celebration of Robert Allen Zimmerman’s 73rd birthday, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of Dylan’s live performances as captured on film or video, and a bunch of his music videos.

Audio: Bob Dylan Sings ‘Jokerman,’ ‘Mr. Tambourine Man’ & More – Germany 1996 Part Two

Yesterday I did a post featuring four songs from Bob Dylan’s 1976 performance at the Stadthalle in Magdeburg,Germany.

The songs were: “Positively 4th Street, “It Takes A Lot to Laugh It Takes A Train To Cry,” “Ballad Of Hollis Brown” and Gates of Eden.”

If you missed that post, check it out here.

Today I’ve got two more from that show — an eight-plus minute version of “Jokerman” and a ten minute version of “Mr. Tambourine Man.”

Audio: Bob Dylan Tribute Album Focuses on ’80s Songs; Download Built To Spill’s ‘Jokerman’

Here comes an unusual Bob Dylan tribute album, Bob Dylan In The 80s: Volume One, which will be released March 25, 2014.

Today we get a taste from Built To Spill, who cover “Jokerman.” In exchange for your email (which goes to ATO Records) you get to download the track. I’ve listened to the track and it’s very cool. Sounds nothing like Dylan, which I think Dylan himself would really appreciate.

“Jokerman” appeared on Dylan’s 1983 album Infidels.

Here’s Dylan’s version:

Bob Dylan In The 80s:

1. Langhorne Slim & The Law – “Got My Mind Made Up”
