Day #7 finds Banksy offering up a bandaged heart to New York. So rich with symbolism.
This piece is located somewhere in Brooklyn.
And there’s audio too.
Enjoy!
Today Banksy says this on his website: “I’m not posting any pictures today. Not after this shocking footage has emerged…”
And then provides a video of rebels shooting Dumbo out of the sky.
Over at the Village Voice Raillan Brooks writes:
“It’s unclear what this is supposed to mean (Is the next piece in DUMBO? Does the neighborhood suck so hard we should subject it to mortar fire?) Until we get an answer, at least we have the sight of rebel fighters dancing on the dead body of a childhood favorite to tide us over.”
What do you think?

Doug Aitken’s Station To Station “nomadic happening” is over and done. Or is it? In today’s L.A. Times, Deborah Vankin provides a post-mortem with comments from Aitken.
Worth reading, and you can read it here.
OK, so Banksy doesn’t take the weekend off. Very good. For day five of his month-long street art show in New York he’s turned a delivery truck into… Well, let Banksy explain:
“A New York delivery truck converted into a mobile garden (includes rainbow, waterfall and butterflies).”
You can call this number to hear Banksy’s satiric explanation of what today’s art is all about.
Or you can listen right here, right now:

So I was over at Banksy’s website this morning in search of info about what wall he’s turned into art on the fifth day of his month-long New York street art show, when I noticed the above quote.
Clearly, it explains not only why Banksy has called this exhibit, “Better Out Than In,” but, really, it explains Banksy’s philosophy regarding all the public art he’s done.
Right?
Meanwhile, since I haven’t yet found images of Day #5 — maybe he takes the weekend off? — below is a recap.
Day #1
Day #2
Day #3
Day #4
Imprisoned Pussy Riot member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova is in serious condition following her nine day hunger strike, according to her husband, Pyotr Verzilov.
“Nadya’s condition, no joke, is now very serious,” Verzilov wrote on Twitter late Thursday.
He urged Tolokonnikova’s supporters to protest outside the prison, Penal Colony No. 14, in the Mordovia republic, The Moscow Times reported.
“Therefore, come to Zubova Polyana to rescue her. There are means to live and fight here.”
According to an Oct. 3, 2013 report at Rolling Stone, Russian parliamentary deputy Ilya Ponomarev said doctors feared for the Pussy Riot member’s life. Ponomarev met with Tolokonnikova on Tuesday of this week.
“She was extremely weak and she had a bad infection, which was very visible – she had a bad rash on her skin,” Ponomarev told Rolling Stone.
“She was very bad,” he said. “They were saying that unrecoverable damage was approaching, and I think they were right.”
Tolokonnikova said in a statement that she is suspending, not ending, her hunger strike because Russian authorities promised to move her to another prison.
“I am not ending my hunger strike, I am suspending it temporarily because my physical condition is now very bad and there are the beginnings of health complications,” read a message from Tolokonnikova that was distributed by her husband.

On Day #4 of Banksy’s month-long street-art show on the New York streets, the artist has unveiled three art pieces that are located in Brooklyn. On his website the artist writes of this work: “Random graffiti given a Broadway makeover (an ongoing series).” The art is on walls in Delancey, Bushwick and Williamsburg, according to http://www.banksy.co.uk/.
On day two of Banksy’s month-long New York street art show which is literally taking place on the streets of New York, a second work appeared at 18 Allen Street. Yesterday. Oct. 1, 2013, the first work appeared but was subsequently painted over.
Here’s the first, which is called “The Street is in Play”:
And here’s how it looks today:
For more on Banksy:
The mysterious graffiti artist Banksy confirmed on his website today that a painting on a wall in New York’s Chinatown is the beginning of his month-long “residency,” “Better Out Than In.”
At Banksy’s website, it now says: “For the next month Banksy will be attempting to host an entire show on the streets of New York.
And I dig it the most.
Pussy Riot’s Nadezhda Tolokonnikova ended her nine day hunger strike today, October 1, 2012, according to her husband, Pyotr Verzilov, who also said that she will restart it if she is not transferred to another prison.
Verzilov told the Associated Press that Tolokonnikova was in stable condition. Her lawyer, Irina Khrunova, told AP that the young woman’s “deteriorating health” was the main reason she stopped her hunger strike.
