Audio: Bob Dylan’s ’50th Anniversary Collection: The Copyright Extension Collection, Volume 1′ – Freewheelin’ Rarities, Part Two

In 2012, in order to protect the copyrights on a bunch of Bob Dylan recordings that have not been officially released, Sony released a very limited edition of a multi-disk set called The 50th Anniversary Collection: The Copyright Extension Collection, Volume 1.

Among the gems on the album are many outtakes and alternate takes of songs recorded for The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.

The other day I posted ten clips here.

Today I’ve got ten more.

A MESSAGE FROM THOM YORKE AND NIGEL GODRICH (& A New Thom Yorke Album!)

This showed up in my email this morning:

A MESSAGE FROM THOM YORKE AND NIGEL GODRICH

As an experiment we are using a new version of BitTorrent to distribute a new Thom Yorke record.

The new Torrent files have a pay gate to access a bundle of files..

The files can be anything, but in this case is an ‘album’.

It’s an experiment to see if the mechanics of the system are something that the general public can get its head around …

If it works well it could be an effective way of handing some control of internet commerce back to people who are creating the work.

Enabling those people who make either music, video or any other kind of digital content to sell it themselves.

Bypassing the self elected gate-keepers.

If it works anyone can do this exactly as we have done.

The torrent mechanism does not require any server uploading or hosting costs or ‘cloud’ malarkey.

It’s a self-contained embeddable shop front…

The network not only carries the traffic, it also hosts the file. The file is in the network.

Oh yes and it’s called

Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes.

Thom Yorke & Nigel Godrich

You can get the album for $6 here.

You can watch a video for the track “A Brain In A Bottle” Here.

Video: Laura Marling & Eddie Berman Transform Bob Dylan’s ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ – Listen Right Now!

Laura Marling and Eddie Berman.

Singer-songwriters Laura Marling and Eddie Berman collaborate here on a version of Bob Dylan’s 1965 hit, “Like A Rolling Stone.”

L.A.-based Berman and England’s Marling turn Dylan’s caustic rocker into an introverted, brooding folk song.

It’s a powerful and very different version of this classic, and it will be on Berman’s upcoming album, Polyhymnia, due out October 21, 2014.

Give it a listen.

Marling and Berman previously covered Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing In The Dark.”

You can listen to Berman’s last album, This Past Storm, here.

Audio: Dylan-Heavy Soundtrack To ‘True Love Scars’ – Part Two – Listen Now!

My rock ‘n’ roll novel, True Love Scars, is heavy with references to music.

So I’ve been creating Spotify playlists for the soundtrack.

Today I added a second playlist to the True Love Scars Soundtrack area of my blog.

You can check both playlists out right now.

Here’s the new one:

And you’ll find them both here.

I’ll be adding more in the weeks ahead.

I believe these first three clips are from the Rolling Thunder Review show at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado, May 23, 1976.

This is a moving and beautiful version of “Just Like A Woman” with Scarlet Rivera on violin.
