Audio: Townes Van Zandt Covers Bob Dylan – ‘Man Gave Names To All The Animals’

I just got in the mood to hear Townes cover Bob Dylan today. Here he does Dylan’s “Man Gave Names To All The Animals.”

Damn I miss Townes Van Zandt. What a talent.

And here’s a live version by Bob Dylan from 1991.

And here’s Townes covering the Stones’ “Dead Flowers”:

  1. Thank you for Townes…he knew good writing didn’t he? Simple and straightforward.
Left a big silent hole in all our hearts. Interesting choices you made. The electric shock erased his childhood memories–so he does a children’s song. While flowers on a grave of a hero of the underground….was he seeing his own future? Songs you don’t hear other people doing these days. Thanks. Sad. But thanks.
