I know it’s hard to believe, but once upon a time, that time being the late ’60s and early ’70s, Rod Stewart could really sing, and he made some amazing rock ‘n’ roll records, and zome excellent folk-style recordings.
Here are two of Stewart’s covers of Bob Dylan songs that are quite good. Plus one by The Faces (Rod Stewart being the vocalist).

Why so rough on the old boy? Rod can still bring it when he puts his mind to it.
His “Auld Lang Syne” from a few years back is the best version I’ve ever heard.
I loved the records he made while in The Faces, and those ’70s solo albums, and then he started making music that I could’t listen to. So there well may be recordings he made since I gave up on him that are good. However, in a quick sampling of some more recent recordings I was disappointed.
