For the very first episode of “The Johnny Cash Show,” which aired 45 years ago, on June 7, 1969, Cash managed to get both Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell as guests.

The 58-episode series ran from June 7, 1969 to March 31, 1971 on ABC. It was taped at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dylan performs “I Threw it All Away” and “Living the Blues” and then duets with Johnny Cash on “Girl From the North Country.”

Joni Mitchell sings “Clouds” and duets with Cash on “I Still Miss Someone.”

And Doug Kershaw performs his 1969 hit, “Diggy Liggy Lo” and his mega-million seller, “Louisiana Man.”

Johnny Cash also sings “The Wall,” “Greystone Chapel,” “Don’t Take Your Guns To Town,” “Dirty Old Egg Sucking Hound” and “Daddy Sang Bass.”

And then Johnny Cash and June Carter duet on “It Ain’t Me Babe.”
